Abstract

This community service program aimed to describe the role of foundation administrators in educating children with special needs through visual arts, music, and crafts activities at Yayasan Budaya Individu Spesial (YBUIS) Bandung. The program was conducted by lecturers and students of Politeknik Pajajaran ICB Bandung through field observations, interviews, mentoring, and reflection with foundation administrators, educators, and participants. Observations during the activities indicated that arts-based learning could encourage participant engagement and provide foundation administrators and educators with more varied learning methods. Arts education provided opportunities for children with special needs to express themselves, develop confidence, practice fine motor skills, and strengthen social communication. In visual arts activities, children were given opportunities to express their emotions and imagination; in music activities, they practiced rhythm, focus, and confidence in performing; while in crafts activities, they practiced persistence, coordination, and independent creativity. The program highlights the important role of foundation administrators in supporting the sustainability of inclusive, arts-based educational services.
