IMPLEMENTATION OF TELEDENTISTRY IN PREVENTING DENTAL AND ORAL DISEASES IN INDONESIA

Prevalensi penyakit gigi dan mulut di Indonesia masih tinggi. Data dari Riset Kesehatan Dasar (Riskesdas) 2018 menunjukkan bahwa masalah kesehatan gigi dan mulut di Indonesia sebesar 57,6%. Rendahnya pengetahuan dan kesadaran masyarakat mengenai pentingnya menjaga kesehatan dan mulut menjadi salah satu faktor mengapa kesehatan gigi dan mulut di Indonesia masih menjadi masalah. Pencegahan penyakit gigi dan mulut perlu disebarluaskan dari tingkat yang terendah seperti individu, keluarga, hingga ke masyarakat. Teledentistry merupakan inovasi yang dapat berguna untuk menjangkau masyarakat yang kesulitan dalam aksesibilitas. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui penerapan teledentistry dalam upaya pencegahan penyakit gigi dan mulut di Indonesia. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah menggunakan metode literature review. Hasil penelitian ini adalah teledentistry dapat digunakan untuk upaya pencegahan penyakit gigi dan mulut serta promosi kesehatan gigi dan mulut. Metode teledentistry yang paling sering digunakan untuk upaya pencegahan penyakit gigi dan mulut adalah metode store and forward (asynchronous).
